Offered for sale is this beautiful 1997 BMW M3 Sedan finished in Estoril Blue Metallic over Black leather interior. This example was ordered new via BMW’s European Delivery program by a military officer who took delivery and drove the car for the first 11k miles while stationed overseas. The M3 was brought back into the United States via Oregon in 1998 and later relocated to Maryland in 2003 while still with the original owner.


These so-called M3/4/5’s (M3, 4-door, 5-speed) are becoming increasingly rare, especially in this sort of original, 1-owner condition. This car represents 1 of just 79 manual transmission sedans produced in this color combination during the production run from 07/1996 through 05/1999. All original VIN tags with 95% original paintwork. Includes original owners manual and booklets plus two keys.


A thorough maintenance history is included (25+ pages of records dating to 1998 through current) which outlines the original owner’s time with the vehicle and shows consistent servicing by BMW dealerships and reputable shops. Clean Carfax, MD State inspected.


Over $6,000.00 in service within the last month (full invoice copy in the gallery on our blog; link below) includes: oil and filter, wheels restored, drive belts and pulleys, front driveshaft flex joint, rear shocks and mounts, valve cover gaskets, power steering hoses, O2 sensors, and 4-wheel alignment. Cooling system addressed with new radiator, water pump and thermostat in late 2013 (@96k miles) along with front struts.

EXTERIOR: - The Estoril Blue paint is in excellent condition overall with high shine. The finish is believed to be all original with exception of the hood and passenger front fender which have been resprayed due to age-related clear coat degradation. All original VIN tags are in place and photographed in the gallery. A handful of imperfections are also detailed in the gallery (full link above). The BMW motorsport wheels have been professionally restored.


INTERIOR: - The interior of this M3 is in excellent shape overall; the clean and simple black leather interior presents extremely well. The dash is clean and clear with no cracks or bubbling and no major sagging of the glovebox lid. All interior functions are working as they should(AC/Heat/Radio). Leather seats are in excellent shape front and rear. Original-spec floor mats are in great shape. The original BMW radio was replaced with a Pioneer headunit which functions well and is easy to use.



DRIVETRAIN: - The 3.2L Inline 6-cylinder is rated at 240hp and remains stock with no modifications. The engine fires up nicely and runs extremely smoothly. The 5-Speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the range. Over $6k in recent service (records in gallery via our blog – link above).
