Offered for sale is this original 28k-mile 1997 Porsche Boxster finished in classic Guards Red over Black leather with Black soft top. A book-end year, 1997 represents the first year for the Boxster in the US which helped to bolster Porsche sales at the time and usher in a new era of success for the manufacturer. This Boxster has been well cared for and used sparingly all its life. It is a highly original example, believed to be all original paintwork and with no modifications from OEM specifications. Recent servicing includes: a new convertible top, 15k Annual Maintenance including oil/filter and air filter, new front tires and brake fluid flush. The sale includes a clean Carfax report (please see gallery or email us for a PDF copy), MD Safety Inspection, original books and manuals, spare and tool kit.


EXTERIOR: – The Guards Red paint work is believed to be 100% original and presents in excellent condition. A couple of minor touch ups are present - please see the gallery for detailed images of the exterior trim and condition. The Boxster was ordered with 17" 996 Carrera-look twist-spoke wheels (front 7" with 205/50 tires [new], rear 8.5" with 255/40 tires). No accidents or previous paint work. The convertible top is brand new; no fading or tears, and operates smoothly.


INTERIOR:- The black leather interior presents nearly as new with only minor patina showing on the driver's seat and gear knob. Detailed images of the condition of the interior, switches, and leather are available in the gallery. The interior of the open top roadster is very driver-centric with a large center mounted tach, excellent driving position and limited driver aids. Equipped with a factory alarm, OEM Becker CD-Radio, and wind deflector.


DRIVETRAIN: - The mid-mounted, 2.5L Boxer 6-Cylinder has very low center of gravity lending this roadster go-kart-like handling. The 201hp motor scoots the Boxster to 60 mph in 6 seconds, and up to a top speed of about 150 mph. Equipped with a five-speed manual transmission which shifts smoothly and has a positive and engaging feel. Braking is handled capably by Porsche-branded calipers. Always well-maintained with recent services performed.
