Offered for sale is this 1986 Renault 4 TL Carte Jeune Limited Edition finished Glacier White with a Black Vinyl with a unique, patterned Blue and Green cloth interior. Powered by a 956cc Inline 4-Cylinder (C1C Code) and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. 51,600km. This '4' was imported from France directly to Maryland in 2014 and has lived in a private collection since 2015. The sale includes: a clean MD Title and import documents.
The Renault 4 was built from 1961 to 1994. "Although the Renault 4 was marketed as a short station wagon, its minimal rear overhang, and single top-hinged rear opening made it the world's first mass-produced hatchback car." Over 8 million were produced in their various iterations over the more than 30 year production run. Technically a Front-Drive Mid-Engine layout, the engine in these Renault 4's sits aft of the transaxle under the hood.
This example, a Carte Jeune Edition, was built in limited numbers to promote the 'Carte Jeune' or 'Youth Card' - a French program which was aimed at youths and provided discounts in the areas of transportation and entertainment/events. This special edition is essentially a cosmetic package which was available in four colors (Glacier White, Bright Red, Yellow Grapefruit, and Redwood Green). All Carte Jeune Edition cars were fitted with the Black Vinyl/Blue Cloth interior treatment and colorful, model-specific 'Carte Jeune' graphics were applied to the sides and rear gate.
The car presents in excellent condition overall with only very minor cosmetic imperfection commensurate with mileage and use. The paint work shows extremely well, the interior is in fantastic original condition, and under the hood and you'll find a very tidy engine bay.
