Offered for sale is this beautiful and rare-in-the-states European-spec 1970 BMW 2800 Bavaria (E3) Sedan 4-Speed finished in Granada Red (Mid Red 23) over Black interior. This Bavaria is in highly original condition, cosmetically and mechanically restored in its original color combination in 2005. Modifications are limited to an aftermarket steering wheel (Nardi?), Abarth exhaust, and Kenwood headunit.


According to documentation, this Bavaria (Chassis No. 2308632) was manufactured on December 18, 1969 and delivered on March 12, 1970 to German BMW Dealer Stapelmann in Dusseldorf. It is believed that the car was imported to Southern California in the early 70’s (prior to the mid-70’s federalization standards going into effect). The gauges are metric including odometer in KM, speedo in KPH, and gas in Liters.


The car was repainted in 2005 with new window, trunk and door gaskets. A new headliner was installed at this time. A total mechanical refurbishment (short of engine rebuild) was performed in 2005 by Bill Holmes in San Diego including new ignition, door and trunk locks, rebuilt original 4-speed ZF transmission, new timing chain, new radiator (3-Core), new hoses, fuel lines, brake lines, etc. Equipped with Boge shocks. Includes a complete tool kit in excellent condition. Black leather interior redone in 2011. Recent fluid service (diff, trans, oil, brake). Runs and drives very nicely - ready to enjoy.
